Social Events

Throughout the year 200 (Torquay) Squadron part take in a number of social events. These are designed to allow cadets to let their hair loose and have a good time! Below are a few examples...

Squadron Barbeques

In the summer, cadets contribute to buy some food and drink for a chilled out night where numerous activitiesare organised while members of staff prepare a feast.

Christmas Party

The last parade night of the year before the squadron breaks for the Christmas Holidays. A similar night as the barbeques with various competitions and games.

Dinner and Dance 2006

Cadets have the chance to dress up and attend the biggest and most awaited social event of the year. The Dinner and Dance is held around February/March and hosts the cadet presentations including Best Academic Cadet, Best Sports Cadets and the Les Pateman Cup for Service to the Squadron.

Fund Raising

Boxing Day Dip

Every year members, ex members from 200 Squadron and many more participate in the Boxing Day Dip every Boxing Day in the aim of raising money for the squadron in order to buy more equipment for use on the unit, with part of this money going to the Herald Express and a chosen charity.

After participants run into the sea at 11.00am, The Grand Hotel allow us the use of their swimming pool and steam room to warm up, followed by pasties and drinks at the Royal Air Force Association Club.

RAFA Wing's Appeal Collection

August time and the Football season starts up again. On the first game, members of 200 Squadron go to watch Torquay United Football Club play at Plainmoor Stadium. During the Half Time break cadets will go around the supporters with collection boxes and all returns go to The Royal Air Force Association Wing's Appeal.
